Transient

A performance created for the closing of Lucky Gallery in Brooklyn, New York, “Transient” spread the physical space of the gallery into the streets to be swept away.  A large pile of soil was dumped in the main gallery and was slowly pulled out through the gallery in a long, meandering mound. Guests were invited to share memories, experiences, thoughts, or drawings on small pieces of paper which were then “planted” in the mound to continue their journey without the physical space of the gallery. The gallery manager, Laura Arena, read through the messages and the dirt was swept onto the street to become part of the new existence of Lucky gallery as a roaming space for creation.
